Shayma hamad

Shayma Hamad is a multidisciplinary performance artist and activist. She was born in Jerusalem and graduated from law at Birzeit University in 2019. She is interested in exploring the relational aesthetics that are shaped by unwritten “customary” laws within the complex social dynamics of communities navigating the challenges posed by colonialism, occupation, environments. She is currently focusing on the project “Food in the Law”.
“Food in the Law” brings together all audiences to experience and index knowledge through the experience inspired by feminist folklore tools and also developing the project Bastaland that experiments with Palestinian vegetable varieties and gastronomy to develop a series of products as sustenance for a space for cultivation, artistic creation and rest.
